SIDEWALK 4
Die Politisierung der Trans*Bewegung von Ost Berlin, Nadja Schallenberg

Rhinower Str 8

Sonntags Club from 89 till.. dont know.

Kopenhagener Str 14

Info Laden, it was a place where people would get help, info and connect, they extra looked for a neutral name that wouldnt give to much out, and also that wouldnt scare people.

Greifenhagener Str 28

where Sonntags-Club e.V functions today.
SIDEWALK 2
Lesbisch Schwule Liebe und Emanzipation in Ost Berlin, Bettina und Peter

Schonehauser Alle 175

Cafe am Senefelderplatz, this was a Cafe run by two lesbians, the atmosphere was nice, lesbians got used to meet here, not a lesbian cafe though.

Saarbrücker str. 17

Alt Berlinerbierstube, i dont remember anything particular about this place except it was also an eating place

Chorinerstr 9

Sonntags club from 88 till the wall came down.

Ecke Chorinerstr Schonehauser Alle

Frannz Club, open discoteque, gays would be able to make their parties here on Sunday evenings, the day "normal" people had to do their shores.

One time Party for lesbians on a Friday of November 1983 Greifswalderstr. Sputnik club

They didnt put the street number on the flyer for security reasons, also they extra made a tombola with numbers so dancers would be forced to dance with their paring number, they made extra efforts to play music which was performed by women.

Klappe - Puhlmann Hof between Kastanien Alle and Schonehauser Alle

This was parking space next to open toilets which were probably across the street, klappe is a term for toilets were gay guys go to have sex, widespread term in the DDR. The parking space is today a passage (Puhlmann hof) between buildings, very much gentrified.

Kastanienalle 2

Cafe Peking later called Cafe ecke Schonehauser Alle, i dont remember anything particular beside it was probably i place to wait for the close by Schoppenstube to open, they changed the name when the DDR stopped being friendly to china, but the community continue calling it "Peking"

Schonehauser Alle 44

Schoppenstube, people would dance and spent time, it open after 22:00 so u usually had to wait outside for them to open the doors, they also charged entrance at some point, it would enter easily (without queuing) if u would have foreign currency. news about it closing http://www.tagesspiegel.de/berlin/die-schoppenstube-berlins-aelteste-schwulenbar-muss-schliessen/7931304.html

Stargarder str 77

Gethsemane church. very important place for the 8 of October 1989 demo( also the 40 year anniversary of the DDR), people gather here and some paramilitars surrounded the church and didn't let the demonstrators go out of the church or the area even though they were many, this led to the neighbors of surrounding buildings to light candles on their balconies in support of the peaceful church demonstrators.

HO Handels Organization

-DDR manager of goods and restaurants, which would get nervous if a restaurant seem to start gathering "too many people of the same kind- homosexuals-" also u would need permission from them to organize any party/dancing event.

KWV Komunalle Wohnungs Verwaltung

Umbrella term for managers of housing in the DDR, in this case Prenzlauerberg distric.

Since watching in netflix serie "Grace and Franky" which has 2 great actress i didnt know much before, Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomblin. Parallel to me, my friend Franzie also watch the serie, and develop interest on the topic of "representation of older women in TV" so we have been basically pushing each other to watch the show... and then for me birthday she came up with this book and i love it! for one it has Jane autograph and well second is cool to know that in this book the story ends in the mid 90, and since then she has been so active still!! it gives u hope and energy to see how involve aware and cool she is.anyway now i subscribed to her mailing list and once a month i get an update with what she has been doing. unglaublich =)
